Most app stores describe what an app does in marketing language, not what it does to your data once you grant it access. Permissions screens are short on context, and privacy policies bury the consequential details in pages of legal prose. The result is that consequential decisions about location tracking, contact-list harvesting, microphone access, cross-app ad fingerprinting, and chatlog retention happen invisibly — and almost always in the operator's favor. The point of these analyses is to translate that opacity back into language an ordinary user can act on.

Each report below covers a single app: which permissions it actually requests at runtime, the categories of data it collects in practice, where that data is processed and under whose legal jurisdiction, what encryption (if any) protects messages and stored content, the most credible alternatives if you decide to switch, and a plain-English verdict — Safe, Caution, or Avoid.
